Pioneering Data-Driven Shop-Floor Operations for a Global Pharma Company

The Challenge

A globally recognized pharmaceutical company sought to revolutionize their shopfloor operations across over 30 manufacturing sites through innovative, data-driven solutions. The company's existing framework confined data within isolated machines, rendering the holistic analysis of operations cumbersome and inefficient. Traditional suppliers had offered IoT platforms focusing more on product capabilities rather than aligning with the client's specific needs and operational environment.

Our Approach

TechFlowState embarked on a distinct approach, initiating a Value Exploration phase consisting of workshops with shopfloor personnel to delve into their unique challenges and perspectives. We mapped pivotal use cases, developed a prototype, and drafted a high-level reference architecture to validate the concept with senior management, ranking potential products and suppliers according to tailored decision criteria. After a meticulous selection process involving RfIs and PoCs, we, alongside the chosen supplier, orchestrated a multi-year implementation plan to introduce the solution globally to all major sites.

The Outcome

This endeavor marked substantial enhancements, such as accelerated IT rollouts and the swift testing of novel solutions, optimizing innovation and productivity. It also heightened operational resilience by facilitating prompt analysis of operational issues, thereby minimizing downtime and financial losses. The learning curve included realizing the importance of concentrating on measurable outcomes and maintaining strategic momentum amid stakeholder transitions. The commendations received from the client’s peers affirmed their innovative stance in the industry, acknowledging the comprehensive approach undertaken by TechFlowState in this transformative project.
